Student Volunteering Week (SVW) is a nationwide celebration of student volunteering, that brings together organisations from all sectors to promote and celebrate the volunteering efforts of students across the Universities and Colleges in the UK. In Northern Ireland, Volunteer Now works to support local colleges and universities in recognising their student volunteers and recruit new volunteers during the week.

Volunteering is a great way to give something back to your community, meet new people and have some fun at the same time. With youth and graduate unemployment continuing to grow, volunteering is also one of the few ways that students and young people can develop the skills that employers are looking for and make them stand out. It's little wonder then that 51% of recent graduates say that they got their job thanks to their voluntary experience.

Student volunteers are involved in everything from sports coaching to working with animals, volunteering overseas, supporting our hospitals and helping run youth clubs and everything in between. But don;t just take it from us! Take a look at some current volunteers andtheir advice or find out what employers have to say about volunteering.
