David Langdon
What inspired you to get involved?
I love volunteering, it gives me the chance to help in my local community and make a difference. Learning new skills is something else I was interested in as well.
What does your volunteering involve?
My volunteering involves helping out at local events, such as Tech dances. During the World Police and Fire Games I was involved in registering people and giving badges to those who required them.
What skills or qualities are required for your volunteering role?
The ability to make people feel welcome was really Important, as was communication, people skills and being friendly in general.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering and what has been your highlight?
Helping people and getting to know them is what I enjoy most about volunteering. My highlight has to be the WPFGs as I was able to meet new people and show them what NI can offer.
Why would you encourage others to become a Millennium Volunteer and what advice would you give them?
Millennium Volunteers is great because you are recognised for the work you do. My advice would be just be yourself and get involved in as much as you can.
