Age: 19
Naomi McManus
What inspired you to get involved?
I got inspired from my granny. She inspired me because she had been in hospital very ill at Christmas time. She was in hospital over Christmas and was unable to get home because there were no hospital ambulances able to transfer her home. Thankfully St Johns Ambulance was able to get her home for Christmas. I then realised I wanted to do something to help people in situations like my granny. So I joined Order of Malta.
What does your volunteering involve?
My volunteering involves me working with others in order to make someone better and treat them as best we can.
What skills or qualities are required for your volunteering role?
For my volunteering I need to be able to work as part of a team, be caring and I need t know First Aid in order to treat individuals appropriately.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering and what has been your highlight?
I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends. From volunteering I get to see the relief that individuals have after they have cared for some one appropriately and it has been a success.
Why would you encourage others to become a Millennium Volunteer and what advice would you give them?
I would encourage others to become a Millennium volunteer because it is such an achievement and it makes you feel proud. I would tell them if you are committed enough to something you will rewarded.
