Megan Young
What inspired you to get involved?
I began volunteering in 2009 and am currently a volunteer at St. Columbaís House. I volunteer whenever Iím asked so there is no strict routine to follow. I plan to go into a career in Psychology and thought volunteering would be a helpful experience.
What does your volunteering involve?
My volunteer role involves giving back to the community in whatever way I can as it can change from day to day.
What skills or qualities are required for your volunteering role?
I believe that communication, understanding, compassion, patience and the need to help are essential when it comes to volunteering.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering and what has been your highlight?
I just enjoy interacting with the children and seeing myself actually make a difference to other peopleís lives.
Why would you encourage others to become a Millennium Volunteer and what advice would you give them?
I would encourage others to become a Millennium Volunteer as it is so rewarding. I would advise them to stick it out no matter what and to give it their all!
