Student Volunteering Week 2012

10 February 2012

Volunteering is a great way to build the key skills and experience that employers are looking for, all while giving something back, meeting new people and having fun!

Students make a major contribution to local communities and organisations, while gaining great skills and experience for the workplace in the process. Student Volunteering Week (20-26 February 2012) is about recognising the brilliant work students already do and encouraging others to get involved.

Volunteering is a great way to give something back to your community, meet new people and have some fun at the same time. With youth and graduate unemployment continuing to grow, volunteering is also one of the few ways that students and young people can develop the skills that employers are looking for and make them stand out. It's little wonder then that 51% of recent graduates say that they got their job thanks to their voluntary experience.
